ALISHA
TROMBONE

Alisha is one of the top trombone players living in the Los Angeles area since her move from Utah in 2005. She is also one of the only professional female musicians in town that play the trombone. There are only a handful of musicians in the brass section that can perform with the skill, passion and talent that Alisha demonstrates every time she is on stage. The trombone is used mainly for the Salsa lover events and is highly used in the salsa hit 'Idilio' by Willie Colon. She participated in the 2005 Henry Mancini Institute, where she worked with Patrick Williams and the rest of the Mancini faculty, and performed with guest artists Maria Schneider, Christian McBride, Doc Severinsen, Bobby McFerrin, Ray Barretto, and many more. Since that time she has kept busy playing with a variety of groups, from the big bands of Bill Holman, Buddy Childers and Maiden Voyage, to performing with the San Bernardino Symphony. She had the pleasure of performing in the Windward School’s production of Urinetown: The Musical, a very relevant contemporary work she recommends to everyone. In June 2006 she was privileged to work with Deborah Wagner on the premier of a new musical: Wartime Romance.

Prior to her arrival in California, Alisha studied at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She double majored in Music and Russian for her Bachelor’s degree (2003), and focused on Trombone Performance for her Master’s degree (2005). She played in every type of ensemble BYU offered, and travelled on many national and international performance tours. She also freelanced while in Utah, and is proud she can claim to be the pioneering female trombonist in Rusty McKinney’s fabulous UUTE ensemble.

Alisha is also available for private lessons, recording and willing to travel.
